Lucas is one of the newest movers and shakers in New Orleans. He’s got the money but not the pedigree for High Society. He believes that if he can get into the New Orleans high society (which doesn’t like his new money). His plans have been to date and eventually marry a woman from the upper crust that would open all the doors that his money alone could not buy. As he continues to pursue his goals he comes face to face with Yve Santos and he wasn’t planning on her.

Yves is not interested in someone like Lucas Titian…been there done that. She wants her business and the simple relationships she has had. She has been through a lot and is content with what she has. Her goal is to take control of the store she is currently managing. It’s not easy for to ask for help but reluctantly agrees to it from Lucas. She was only wanting his help, she was planning on anything else. But LOVE always finds a way.

Lucas Freaking Titan…that truly sums up his name. Since I started reading the series I have been waiting patiently (not really) for Lucas’s book. He has always been a commanding presence in previous stories so I knew his book was going to be awesome! And it was! The best so far of the series.

Yes Lucas is an arrogant jerk. He is ruthless and will destroy anyone that gets in his way. BUT…this book finally shows you the other side of Lucas. Behind the tightly controlled persona there is a vulnerable man underneath. While he thinks he knows what he wants in a wife he comes to realize that Yve is the only woman he can see in that role. She is everything he never knew he wanted.

Yve herself is the perfect match for Lucas as she is as strong as him and won’t take any of his BS. She won’t let him get away with anything.  She has been hurt in the past and is content with the store and her friends. Lucas comes barging into her life and shows her that all guys are not like her ex. In him, she finds the one man she can believe in and he finds the woman he can truly love.

Chapter 1

Lucas

SWEAT DRIPPED INTO MY EYES as I bounced on the balls of my feet. Someone had to be calling out how much time was left in this round soon. My pride was on the line, and there was no way I would hand it over to Con Leahy. He’d already gotten the girl, and I wasn’t about to let him humiliate me in the ring in this piece-of-shit New Orleans gym too.

My muscles burned, but that was nothing compared to the heat of victory—or the sting of defeat. What had started out as a boxing lesson had quickly transformed into an all-out brawl for dominance and respect.

Only you would pay a million dollars to get your ass kicked, Titan. The voice in my head mocked me as I bobbed and weaved. But I hadn’t paid a million to get my ass kicked. I’d done it because that night at the charity auction I’d been drunk, pissed off, and determined to prove a point—he might’ve gotten the girl, but I was still the one with the power. I got a sick sense of satisfaction that every time Con bought something for his gym and these kids, he had to think of me.

I swung with another right hook. The blow connected with Con’s jaw and snapped his head to the side.

Yeah. That’s right. But my mental cheer came a moment too soon, and pain exploded in my left side.

Shit, that’s going to hurt tomorrow.

I stumbled back but threw myself forward again, shooting out my fist with an uppercut that knocked Con back a step. This was how it had gone for the last several minutes—trading punches and circling each other.

There was no love lost in this ring, that was for damn sure, and I was ready for this to be over. I would walk out of here with every bit of the respect I was owed. Fuck anyone who thought otherwise.

Con moved toward me and the circling started again. The cheers and chants from the crowd surrounding the ring in the old warehouse gym seemed to grow every time I glanced beyond the ropes. A flash of blond hair caught my eye as I stepped left and Con shifted to the right.

Vanessa.

She threw her head back and laughed at something said by her redheaded friend, Elle. I turned my attention back to the man in front of me, but my focus wandered again when a huskier, sexier laugh echoed through the room.

My eyes strayed from Con for a second too long as I tried to track down the source of the laughter. Pain burst through my jaw, catching me by surprise, and I stumbled back into the ropes. Using their momentum, I shoved off to the side, my pride stinging from my momentary lapse in concentration. Embarrassed and now thoroughly pissed off, I surged forward and attacked.

One punch. That was all I landed before the bell rang, signaling the end of the round and my very expensive “lesson.”

I pushed off Con, and my knee might have slipped as I stepped back . . . and caught him directly in the balls. It was probably an accident. I huffed out a chuckle, but Con didn’t share my humor.

“Goddamn it!” he roared. “Are you fucking serious?”

It was like stabbing a bull with a matador’s sword, but I was ready for him. I jumped out of the way as Con charged, and shifted into a defensive stance when he swung.

“Should’ve expected a cheap shot from you, motherfucker.” Unrestrained anger flashed over his face as every shred of coaching mentality fled, along with that smug superiority he’d been giving me.

GoodYou aren’t better than me, Leahy. I could buy and sell you a hundred times over.

He might’ve gotten the girl, but I wasn’t going to let him get away with her clean. I wanted blood.

“Should’ve expected you to strut around this ring like a fucking cock of the walk,” I shot back.

Con feinted and swung again, but I’d been studying his movements. I bobbed and weaved, and got the hell out of the way.

I threw my own punch as soon as I had a clean shot. It landed just below Con’s left eye, splitting the skin over his cheekbone and sending blood spattering everywhere.

The taste of victory was sweet. “First blood,” I said under my breath.

Apparently my words weren’t quiet enough because Con’s head snapped up and he glared at me with disgust, as if I needed to be put down like a rabid animal. “This ain’t a fuckin’ duel, you piece of shit.”

“It sure isn’t a friendly competition either.”

“Paid a million to get that cheap shot in, didn’t you?”

My lips twisted into a mocking smile. “I sure didn’t pay a million to have you show me up.”

Con dropped his hands and shook his head. “Just when I thought you weren’t a complete fucking asshole.”

“You were wrong,” I replied, turning for the ropes.

Con’s fists lifted and before I could react, one connected with my cheekbone. The instantaneous gush of blood told me I’d have a scar to match his, but it didn’t matter. One more scar wouldn’t hurt my banged-up face.

I roared as I charged, but I didn’t get the chance to retaliate. Shouts filled the room, and beefy arms wrapped around my body, holding me back.

“You’re not half bad when you’re not being a shady rich prick,” Lord’s voice said in my ear.

I lunged toward Con, but Lord’s grip only tightened. “Get your goddamn hands off me,” I growled at him.

Leaning closer to my ear, he lowered his voice. “When you calm the hell down and realize you’re making an ass of yourself in front of a bunch of kids and women.”

I glanced out to the crowd and read disgust on so many faces, including Vanessa’s. Like it mattered what a single goddamn person in this gym thought of me. I could buy and sell them all.

Lord was still holding me back when Con came toward us. He yanked his gloves off and wiped at the blood still dripping from the gash on his face.

“You’re also not half bad when you’re paying attention—and when you’re not throwing a knee into my nuts. But I think you’ve overstayed your welcome.”

I jerked at the arms trapping me. “Call off your dog, and I’m gone.”

“You ever want another round, it’s gonna cost you two million next time,” Con said.

“For another chance to make you bleed? I’d pay even more.”

Con nodded to his brother, and Lord let me go. The crowd had already started to disperse. The only person in the building who probably didn’t want to run me down in the parking lot was my COO, and arguably my friend, Ryder Colson. And he was nowhere to be seen.

Instead of Colson, I saw a group of women moving toward the door—Vanessa Frost in her white cotton dress, Elle Snyder in her yellow retro number, and two others I didn’t know. One looked familiar with tanned skin the color of honey, her hair in dark waves, and a curvy body displayed by a funky teal dress with hot-pink polka dots. She hooked her hands on her hips, and that husky laugh echoed through the room again. Apparently she was the one who had distracted me in the ring. My eyes didn’t move from her to take in the fourth woman.

Colson came up beside me. “Who knew there’d be so many hot pieces of ass in this shit warehouse?”

I turned toward him. “Give any of them a shot, and you’ll probably find yourself bleeding on the floor.”

Ryder shrugged off my comment. “Go get your shit. I’ll wait.”

He was gone before I could tell him he didn’t need to wait around for me. But then again, he was my only ally in a building full of people who undoubtedly would have preferred to see me KO’d on the floor of the ring. Just one more place I’d never be welcome.

Good thing I didn’t give a fuck.

I’d showed up, gone toe-to-toe with Con, and had taken back a piece of my pride. That was enough.

For today.

I was already thinking of hiring a trainer as I went for my bag.

Excerpt 1

Undone By His Kiss

She was a beauty, no doubt. All fluster, indignation and tempting female. Her nose tipped up at the end and the fitting observation caused him to smile. Miss Shaw struck him as a female who turned her nose up on a great many things.

He was an easygoing sort. Why he’d become obsessed with a stranger who appeared as relaxed as a wasp’s nest proved baffling. He had more important subjects to consider and the distraction of a lovely female was the last thing he desired, never mind he’d had trouble chasing her memory from his thoughts all day. Still, she fascinated him for some illogical reason. He’d watched her mouth form every word, captivated by her lips, perfectly heart-shaped, plump and kissable, and instead of comprehending her message, he wondered of the taste of her kiss, the feel of tongue.

Terribly done of him, really. Miss Shaw appeared less than interested. Her back had been rigid, her shoulders squared, yet she really was all soft skin and feminine curves.

“It’s a new show, Quirks and Kinks. We’ve already selected a male reenactment actor to be your co-host, so you’re the last piece of the puzzle. There’s some seriously f@$%ed up sh*t out there that people are into, and the two of you are going to be the face of it.” “I’m going to be the face of people’s freakish fetishes?” I asked disbelievingly. Larry shrugged his nonchalance, shoving it directly down the throat of my panic. “Half of it.” That conversation was the beginning of more than a show. It was the beginning of mystery, friendship, and love, and the outcome of mixing all three together with two unsuspecting victims. Easie Reynolds and Anderson Evans were drawn to the same, simple thing—each other. But, sometimes, undeniable chemistry isn’t enough. After all, how easy is it to get know someone when they’re constantly pretending to be someone else?

 SNEAK PEAK EXCERPT:

“I’m still not even sure what we’re doing here,” I told Ashley as I glanced around at the cheap Tex Mex themed decor of El Loco Restaurant.

All around us, business-suit-clad, young singles chatted and laughed, sinking deeper into their margaritas and each other. A life untraveled stared me in the face, but it didn’t make me feel bitter or regretful. All I felt was stupid for being out and spending money that we didn’t have.

“You just landed a job,” she cooed before sipping delicately from the free water.

Giving her my undivided attention, I narrowed my cat-like blue eyes.

“Granted, it’s not a job you’re exactly thrilled about, but it comes with money, and that’s worth celebrating a little.”

“Pff,” I huffed. “So far, all it’s come with is a bag of muffin mix and humiliation.” Exaggeratedly, I checked my purse. “Nope, no money.”

Ashley just shook her head. “We’re eating one dollar tacos. Peanut butter and bread are more expensive. Relax.”

My fingers itched for a cigarette, and astute twenty-three year old lady that she was, Ashley didn’t miss it.

“Besides, if we’re going to get on the money discussion you’re going to have to take a closer look at some of your other expensive habits.”

Ashley had been trying to talk me into quitting for years, and I knew my lungs would thank me if I somehow managed to follow through. But for as desirable as it sounded, I just…couldn’t. It wasn’t so much the addiction and the work it would take to kick a years-in-the-making habit. It was that smoking had become my emotional crutch. My timeout in any moment of need and my excuse to busy myself with something other than being a bitch. I was scared of the chasm I’d fall into, the unclimbable hill I’d create with my auger-like anxiety.

My sister didn’t know any of that. No one did.

“I smoke for my career.”

Her eyes practically rolled all the way out of her head. “This ought to be good.”

“You know this industry is unbelievably vapid, and vapid means skinny. Smoking keeps me that way.”

She shook her head in disdain.

“And it’s cheaper than a gym membership.”

“Global warming, anyone?” she called dramatically. “You’re argument is balancing on some pretty thin ice.”

“Shut up.”

Suddenly, warmth wafted up into my face as our waiter shoved the toasty basket of complimentary chips into the center of our table. My eyes drifted naturally from the basket to the hand holding it, where a large, oval, heavy metal ring sat in blazing contrast to the tan expanse of his long ring finger, up the line of his muscular—deliciously veiny—forearm, to the cuff of his rolled up black sleeve. On a runaway mission of their own, my eyes wouldn’t stop, eating up the expanse of his bicep in an instant, stutter-stepping up the corded column of his slender throat, and landing on one of the most attractive male mugs I’ve ever seen.

A mixing bowl of ethnicity, his naturally tanned skin and dark features stood in stark contrast with the minty green of his eyes. Directly on me and smirking, they were mesmerizing.

And mocking.

Ashley spoke, as I’d apparently lost all of my normal snarky ability.

“Thanks.”

A small glance from me to her preceded his polite answer. “You’re welcome.”

She smiled her prettiest smile, the one that infused her entire being from chest to eyes, and the corner of his mouth notched higher in response.

A foreign heaviness settled in my chest as I watched, and its completely unwelcome presence nearly made me sick.

He turned to leave slowly, one last lingering look in my direction making my nerves ratchet up to an eleven.

Fuck. I did not like to be rattled. Confident words were my modus operandi, but a good earthquake could wreck even the strongest of routines. My table at El Loco, tonight—this guy—was the epicenter.

The man in question had just earned himself automatic placement on my shit list.

Straight, white, top teeth just barely teased the plump pillow of his bottom lip. It was unintentional, completely innocent, and hot as Jesus’ sauna.

Shit list position confirmed.

“You’re, like, really attractive,” Ashley noted, evidently drunk on her water and speaking via a direct link to my brain.

His chuckle was like a full body vibrator, skating through the nerves on every inch of my skin. One long-fingered hand shot straight to his neck, rubbing the uneasiness of Ashley’s compliment out quickly.

“Thanks.”

“Are you an actor?” she continued. “You’ve got to be, right?”

  1. Every attractive person you meet must be in the business.

I would have laughed at Ashley’s assumption and how ridiculous it was if I hadn’t been thinking the same thing.

He looked slightly bashful, but fought straight through the discomfort and answered her frankly. “Uh, yeah. I mean, I’m trying anyway. I’m not particularly successful.”

Distracted by my reaction to him and his honesty, I didn’t run a pre-check on anything coming out of my mouth. Not that I normally had the best filter. “So you’re another one of those actors, waiting tables to pay the bills and pass the time?”

He bristled, and rightfully so. But he did it with an otherworldly calm, meeting my eyes directly and speaking in a soft, polite—if only slightly teasing—voice.

“One of those? Oh. No. Waiting tables is my dream. I just act to fit in.”

My cheeks felt hot with embarrassment and shame, and the glint in his eyes told me that he saw it.

Sometimes I hated that my default setting was bitch. Such a dominant trait was hard to overturn. “Okay, so maybe that was a little rude.”

One corner of his mouth—the smug one—rose just slightly. “It’s a distinct possibility.”

Silence hung between us, but while my time was spent avoiding eye contact, his was spent calculating his next blow.

“I guess you must be something really impressive then?”

“Huh?” My wandering eyes shot to his with the focus of a heat-seeking missile.

“Well, you obviously aren’t on the waiting tables slash acting track that the rest of us losers are.”

“Um—”

“I mean, you must do something that really matters, right? Educating orphaned kids. Curing Cancer. Coming up with the way to end all of the world’s unrest.” Attractive arms crossed over an equally nice chest. “Am I right?”

For as confident as I usually was, and as many comebacks as I normally had, I couldn’t think of one single thing to say.

Unfortunately, my sister wasn’t suffering from a similar problem.

“Hah! She’s an actor too. But she’s too busy to wait tables.”

“Working?” he asked, one manly eyebrow cocking in time with his question. If I wasn’t mistaken, he actually looked impressed for a minute.

I was ready to leave right then, but Ashley, being the one of us with a conscience, had a knack for ruining a good thing.

“Oh. No. She’s just too busy being her. You know, cutting people like you down in her spare time.” She looked away, bopped to the music in the background. “But, she doesn’t do it on purpose. She was born this way. Cold, dead heart and all. I guess that’s why people like me still love her.”

I tried not to let her words hurt. After all, if I were describing myself, I probably would have chosen the exact same words, and because I knew her so well, I knew she was just trying to make a joke and bail me out of a situation of my own making.

And yet, I still couldn’t stop the smile from slipping and sliding its way off of my face.

It only took a few seconds to recover, but when I looked back up at the waiter, he was looking at me differently. Assessing.

Uncomfortable was too cushy a word for what I was feeling. Bombs exploded and sprayed shrapnel, the sharp edges of his scrutiny digging into the flesh of my muscle and making it twitch just beneath the not-protective-enough layer of my skin.

Excerpt:

The bell on the door to Couture Corsets tinkled, announcing that a customer had just walked into Paige Moore’s small boutique in Old Town San Diego, where she designed and sold custom-made corsets.

“It’s just me,” she heard her good friend Raina Beck call out.

Knowing Raina would just head to the back area of the shop where Paige did all her designing and creations, she continued hand sewing small seed pearls to an exquisite white satin corset she was making for a client’s wedding night.

A moment later, Raina walked past the curtain of glittering crystals hanging in the doorway that separated the retail floor from the workroom. “Wow, that looks stunning,” she said of the one-of-a-kind bridal corset, her voice laced with awe.

Paige glanced over her shoulder and grinned. “Thanks. Once I add the crystal and lace embellishments along the bodice, this bride is going to knock her groom’s pants off when he sees her in this corset.”

Raina laughed. “Not a bad way to start off a marriage.”

“What? By getting lucky?” Paige asked humorously as she set her needle and thread down on the nearby worktable that dominated the area.

“And being totally turned on by your new wife.”

“Speaking of getting turned on,” Paige said with a smirk as she eyed her cheerful friend. “You’re glowing and smiling all the time, so things with Logan must be good, yes?”

“Really good,” Raina admitted, her face flushing with happiness. “And I do have to say, it’s nice having sex on a regular basis,” she teased.

Paige sent her a mock glare. “Yeah, I wouldn’t know, so stop bragging,” she grumbled, even though she was genuinely thrilled that Raina had found a man who absolutely adored her. “What brings you by?”

“I have something for you,” Raina said and handed her an envelope with the word Welcome embossed in black across the front.

Paige’s eyes widened as she looked at the envelope. “Oh my God, is this an invitation to your wedding? I can’t believe you didn’t tell me…” Her words and excitement trailed off as she pulled out the card inside and read the message granting her a night at The Players Club, an exclusive, members-only sex club.

“Oh, wow,” she breathed in surprise and glanced back at Raina. “I thought—”

“If I was getting married, you’d know about it before I sent out invitations because you’d be my maid of honor,” Raina interrupted with a laugh. “Besides, I’m not even engaged yet. This invitation is for you,” Raina went on with a grin. “The Players Club is a place where you can get down and dirty and freaky with a stranger, indulge in a fantasy, or try a particular kink that has piqued your interest.”

“I have to say, that sounds very tempting.”

Oh, yes, Paige was definitely intrigued. It had been a year and a half since she’d been with a man. A year and a half since the morning Sawyer Burrows had shattered her heart with his betrayal. And the thought of indulging in a night of hot sex with an anonymous guy was incredibly appealing. She needed to do something to finally shake Sawyer from her mind and thoughts and let the painful past go so she could move on with her life.

Easier said than done, but an evening at The Players Club was a good start to putting an end to her dry spell.

“There is one thing you need to know.” Raina suddenly looked uncertain. “Logan told me that Sawyer is a member of The Players Club. Which, in my opinion, could work to your advantage if he’s there the night you decide to go.”

Paige frowned, not sure how she felt about running into a man she swore she hated yet who still had the ability to affect her on a physical level. Yeah, that part drove her absolutely crazy, but she was curious what Raina meant. “How so?”

“If he’s there, think of it as a bit of revenge.” Raina’s eyes danced with mischief. “Flirt with other guys and enjoy yourself. Show Sawyer exactly what he’s been missing and what is no longer his. Men are such jealous, possessive creatures, and it’ll drive him nuts to see you with another man.”

The corner of Paige’s mouth curled into a smile as she thought about her friend’s suggestion. It had been too long since she’d felt desired and sexy. Combine the bonus of possibly showing Sawyer that she was over him by letting him see her enjoy another man’s attention, and it really was a win-win situation.

Her decision made, she met Raina’s gaze and lifted her chin in determination. “I’m totally down for that.”

About Erika Wilde

Erika Wilde (aka Janelle Denison) is the USA Today bestselling author of over 50 contemporary romances for multiple print publishers.

So, why the new pen name?

As Janelle Denison I’ve always written sexy books, but lately my writing has taken on more erotic elements that I wanted to keep separate for readers because not everyone likes their reading material on the spicier, kinkier side of romance.   However, please be assured that even as Erika Wilde, you will still get an emotionally layered story with characters you’ll care about and fall in love with.   That is always my goal, whether I’m writing straight contemporary romances, or more erotically charged stories.

Currently, I’m working on The Marriage Diaries and making sure that Dean and Jillian enjoy exploring the more erotic side to their marriage.  The series will be on-going, with no foreseeable ending as of right now, for as long as readers want to be voyeurs to Dean and Jillian’s sizzling new relationship.

I’m also planning a spin-off series in the future, featuring the hot military men that work security for Dean at Noble and Associates.

The Hierarchy of Needs Portland Rebels Book 2

Jamie Matthews is back home and at loose ends. Jamie is a former college athlete and now finds herself working at the local aquatic center as a swim instructor. She is also living at home and learning to deal with her family and her older brothers all over again. One night she heads down to the beach to hang out with her old friends. She runs into Dean Trescott, the one guy who she couldn’t forget.

Dean Trescott has been working at his father’s auto shop for as long as he can remember. He knows that he doesn’t have much to offer anyone else, especially Jamie so he has stayed away from her. Now that she is back home he realizes that his feelings for Jamie never went away. But how can he have a future with someone when he believes that he shouldn’t.

The Hierarchy of Needs is a sweet story about two friends that have a second chance at romance. I enjoyed the story and found myself falling for Dean. He is a sweet guy who since he was in high school didn’t want to have Jamie to be stuck with him in their small town. He has always wanted big things for her because he loves her. He is such a sweetheart and I really enjoyed him.

Jamie took a little bit of warming up to. I felt her biggest issues was that she never talked to anyone, not Dean about her feelings, her parents about what she wanted out of life. Jamie has wanted to be with Dean for years but he has always kept her in the friend role, so when they have a chance to be together she jumps at it.

It was great to see Dean and Jamie get together and make a future for themselves and also have a chance to change their careers as well.

Excerpt:

“Who are we hanging out with tonight?”

Krissy’s question yanked Jamie back into the present.

“Just my friends,” she replied, hoping her blasé expression would mask the restless energy pumping through her. “Three guys I grew up with and have known forever.”

The soft hisses and sizzling pops of the bonfire guided her toward where Dean and her friends were sitting. They made a semi-circle by the lifeguard stand she’d spent the summer perched on, a plume of smoke between them spiraling up toward the sky.

Jamie gripped the peeling white wood and swung her body around it, throwing herself into a grand entrance.

“Hello, boys.”

Dean had the mouth of an open beer bottle by his lips, but paused when he saw her, his lips curling up into a smirk. His chin was masked by the day’s worth of stubble he always seemed to have. His crop of dirty blond hair was cut close on the sides but longer in the front, a few slightly mussed strands hanging down low over his eyes. Every inch of him said confident and relaxed, from his ever-present work boots to the swirling lines of ink that wound like ivy from his wrist to his neck.

He was sex incarnate, a wolf on the prowl in a black T-shirt and jeans.

“Jamie Matthews. My favorite girl.”

“Oh, I’m still your favorite, huh?”

She was no more his favorite than the last piece of ass he’d hooked up with, but she liked the nickname nonetheless. She also liked the way his gaze swooped from her face to her breasts and back up again. It was part of the game they played, one she wanted to lose herself in tonight.

He grinned. “Of course.”

“Good to know.” Jamie dropped to the sand by his side, kicked off her flip-flops and stretched out her legs. “I guess that means I’m entitled to your beer.”

She snagged his bottle from his fingertips and took a deep, icy swallow.

“Oh, go right ahead.” Dean’s voice oozed with sarcasm, but there was humor behind it. He nodded to Krissy.

Opening Up (Ink and Chrome Book 1) by Lauren Dane

51tx-Q+w4UL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_

TBorges_TheBookClub_rating (5)

Lauren Dane delivers another excellent erotic romance with Opening Up (Ink and Chrome Book 1), the first in her new series. Opening Up is romance at its finest. Lauren Dane truly knows how to craft a story that grabs a reader’s attention and doesn’t let go. This book has everything a reader could want…swoon worthy alpha male, super strong female and scorching hot all delivered with the author’s signature style.

Asa Barrons meets PJ Colman (Penelope Jean)  when she asks to do custom paint work for his custom car shop, Twisted Steel. He is immediately smitten with PJ and who wouldn’t be, She is strong, independent, creative and brassy. What catches Asa attention the most is her age. She is a few years younger than the women he usually dates and he doesn’t think she will enjoy the kind of kink he enjoys in the bedroom …so he puts the breaks on their relationship pretty quickly. PJ takes Asa’s relationship issues in stride even while dealing with some major family issues.  PJ has always struggled to fit in at her family’s tire empire. Her father brutally squashes her idea of bringing her custom ink designs into the business. With no help from her family she sets out on her own to make a name for herself the very male dominated world car world. The more time PJ spends around Asa , the more he realizes that if he doesn’t step up and claim PJ someone else will. Asa claims PJ in a very public way so everyone knows that she is his!

I truly LOVED Opening Up. I have always been a fan of Lauren Dane’s books (I’ve read them all) I truly believe that this is one of the best she has written. Asa is as super-hot alpha male that anyone would love to get in bed with. PJ is one lucky girl as he wants to be with her (PJ describes him so well “so utterly bada and male”. He introduces her to the darker side of the bedroom and the two of them explore their kin side. Each time they are together it gets hotter and hotter!  What I really loved about PJ is that she is a very strong woman. She calls it like its and takes BS from no one including her family. She is beautiful and creative and just an around great person. Her personality is a great compliment to Asa’s broody personality.

In addition to Asa and PJ there are many other characters in the story that bring to life the world in which they live. Duke, Julie and the rest of PJ’s family all make for an amazing story! Can’t wait for the second book in the Ink and Chrome series.

My favorite Quotes:

“Penelope Jean you are a badass. That comes with a price tag. You know it. You’ve chosen this path. Understand it’s strengths and limitations. You have to be twice as good as any man your age. Whether that’s fair or not, that’s reality. “

“There’s some language of flowers stuff that says what color roses mean what things. So I got you all the colors of roses they had because your everything….”

The Warlord’s Wife by Sandra Lake

Warlords_Available_now

TBorges_TheBookClub_rating (5)

The Warlord’s Wife Sandra Lake is a dynamic historical romance that brings to life the magic and excitement of that the Vikings are famous for.

Is one of the best books that I have read in the last year or two. It contains everything that you could want in a story, romance, adventure, intrigue!

Magnus Knutson is in southern Finland for business, he is a  Norse Chief and a very powerful man. He is also looking for a wife to provide him with sons. and though he has looked far and wide he hasn’t found one that appeals to him. On his way to his ships, he sees Lida in the field, tending to her family’s farm. He decides that he wants to marry her and has one of this men approach her family to secure her hand in marriage. Lida is not impressed with Magnus and refuses his offer of marriage. After much prodding from her family she agrees to meet with Magnus to discuss the possibility of marriage. Once there she bargains with him for protection of his name for her daughter from her previous marriage. Magnus is intrigued with Lida and agrees to her demands. They set off the next day for his holdings. Once they arrive in his kingdom Lida and Magnus begin to get to know one and other and while their relationship develops outside forces continuously put obstacles in their paths.

The Warlords Wife was just fabulous. I was immediately taken with Lida as she is such a strong character. Especially for that time period. She was hurt in the past and bargened not for herself but her daughter. She takes a risk on Magnus and it turns out to be the best thing for her. Magnus only wanting a wife to give him a son, not someone he ever saw developing a relationship with. He is surprised how quickly he develops feelings for Lida and also her daughter. They become the two most important people in his life. When Magnus and Lida both realize that they love each other nothing can stand in their way.

The writing in this story is so vivid I felt like I was transported back in history. It was so great! I so hope this series continues.

Carnal Risk by Kym Grosso

CARNAL RISK KYM GROSSO AMAZON KINDLE EBOOK COVER (1)

TBorges_TheBookClub_wa (5)

TBorges_TheBookClub_rating (4)

Carnal Risk takes readers on an adrenaline ride through the eyes of Garret and Selby…two very different people that find each other when they least expect it.

Garrett Emerson and Selby Reynolds meet under unique circumstances. Their mutual friend Lars has brought them together because he knows that Selby can assist Garrett at his company, Emerson Industries.  Garret is caught unaware of Lar’s true intentions and is not pleased with the situation of how they met, neither is Selby. With a little (or a lot) of reluctance on both their parts they agree that Selby will work at Emerson until the position of CTO can be filled. What neither Garrett nor Selby anticipated was the fierce attraction that they share.

When Garrett first sees Selby is immediately smitten. When he finds her in his office he comes to realize that she is more than just a pretty face and a smoking hot body. She’s beautiful, intelligent and unlike many of the woman he has dated in the past. Garrett starts to pursue her with the single minded focus that made him successful in the business world and in his personal life with Club Altura.

At first garret is afraid to introduce her to his lifestyle of adrenaline activities. He sees something in her and wants to break past the box she has placed herself in. The more time he spends with her the more he realizes that he is starting to care for her. Selby knows that Garrett is hot and not like the guys she usually dates. But she can’t seem to help herself from going out with him. Being afraid to take risks she realizes that Garrett could be the biggest risk of all.

I really loved Garrett and Selby’s story.  Garret is not your typical Billionaire playboy. Yes he is rich…but he wasn’t born that way he worked hard for what he has. Selby is an extremely intelligent and beautiful woman. But socially…she has contained herself. After suffering a traumatic experience when she was a child she is not willing to step out of her comfort zone socially.   Through Selby’s own determination and assistance from Garret she breaks free of the life she has lived for year

Carnal Risk is a great start to a new series and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Because I love it so much I want to give an e-book copy away. Please leave a comment and I will pick a winner.
