Perfect Fling (Serendipity’s Finest Series) By Carly Phillips

Erin Marsden is the Assistant D.A. for Serendipity and the daughter of the former Chief of Police. Erin is known as the good girl. Tired of the good girl image, Erin decides to shake things up by heading to the local bar after her brother’s wedding. At the bar Erin gets together with Cole Sanders, the town bad boy. Cole returns home to Serendipity to decompress after his latest undercover assignment.  He intended on spending his time in Serendipity alone, like usual. What neither Erin nor Cole planed on was their meeting one evening and the explosive chemistry they generate together.

I loved, loved, loved Erin and Cole!  After reading the first chapter I could not believe all that had happened so far! I haven’t read a book that sucked me in so completely in a while.  Perfect Fling starts off with a bang and just doesn’t stop. I think I gasped at least twice while reading the book, there are quite a few surprises! At first the book appears to be a typical good girl and bad boy romance. But that is so not the case! Both the story and the characters have so many layers to them.

Erin is great! I love her humor and strength throughout the story. She goes through so much in a short amount of time (I would have lost it by now). Erin usually takes care of herself so she finds it a little hard to rely on Cole. But with everything happening around her she realizes that Cole provides the best chance she has to remain safe.  Erin takes this in stride even though she is spending way more time with him than they agreed upon after their first night together.

I liked Erin, but I LOVED Cole! There is just something about Cole that grabbed my attention right away. I think it is his intriguing mix of bad boy and sweetheart wrapped up into a pretty hot package. I really enjoyed Cole’s take charge attitude, it fit him so well (he was able to do it without being a jerk). He pretty much moves right in with Erin when she is being threatened and ensures that she remains safe.  As he begins to spend more time with Erin Cole is forced to interact with other people and he soon begins to realize that he doesn’t have to be alone all the time.  In many ways the story is a growing experience for Cole he learns more about himself and his family (specifically his relationship with his dad) and that his future is whatever he wants it to be.

While this book is part of the Serendipity series, it can be read alone. If you haven’t read the previous books, I suggest you do! Perfect Fling is a great story filled with humor and a wonderful cast of characters. I can’t wait for my next visit to Serendipity; the next book can’t get here fast enough!

My favorite quotes from Perfect Fling…both are from Cole!

“Erin, honey, in a world where nothing and no one is what they seem, you’re real. And that makes you dangerous.”

“I love you Erin, it’s that complicated…and that simple.”

Claimed (Club Sin ) By Stacey Kennedy

Presley has recently moved to Vegas and through a friend learns about Club Sin.  Club Sin is everything that she has imagined and more…much more! When Presley is given the opportunity to join Club Sin she jumps at the chance, hoping to discover more about the lifestyle she craves.  Dmitri Pratt is not only the Master at Club Sin he is also the owner. He is one of the most respected Master’s at Club Sin. Everyone knows that he has not had a regular submissive for years. He was never able to find someone that matched his needs. For Dmitri everything changes when he meets Presley.

Claimed was a fabulous story! Presley and Dmitri are so awesome together! They generate so much heat, their scenes at Club Sin made for some pretty hot reading. Dmitri being a Master at Club Sin; the BDSM story line obviously plays a huge part in the story and it is very well written. What I really loved was that Dmitri took the time to educate her (wish he would educate me!). I think he is now my favorite Dom! His Dominance comes across so naturally and he’s not a jerk about it (like other Dom’s I have read). What I also enjoyed was Presley’s internal dialogue; it provided a window into her thoughts as she explored Club Sin. Let’s face it she represents many women that are interested in the BDSM lifestyle but are nervous and/or scared (Me included!). I also found that while Presley changed throughout the story. As she explores Club Sin she becomes a stronger person, believing in herself and going after what she wants.

 My Favorite Quote

“I claimed you as my submissive the moment you called me Master”

I hope that there will be more books feature the Masters of Club Sin as I can’t wait to return!

(original cover..which I think is really hot)

(new cover)

So….I really am on the fence with this Elite. I am literally straddling the line between like and dislike. Which means that I think it was eh. Nothing to horrible but nothing that was really great either.  I believe that the story has a lot of potential but it just didn’t play out very well. I think that the book should either have been a Young Adult Novel or a Regular Adult Novel. I think by choosing “New Adult”, it felt like the author couldn’t decide which way to go with it.  The mob angle was a different story line and I actually like that because it’s not something that is written about often.

Nixon is quite the jerk in the beginning, ok a HOT jerk, but still a jerk.  It took me a little while before I actually liked him. When he wasn’t being a jerk he was actually a nice guy (as nice as you can for the mob). You could tell that he struggled with his feelings for Tracey and always wanted what was best for her.  I just could not see him as the “head” of his family.  (Now in my opinion, if he was the son of the boss and in college while figuring out if he wanted to stay in the family that would have been more believable.)

Tracey Rooks is an interesting mix.  I found her at times to be quite brave (especially with all the bullying) and at other times completely naïve. I did like her with Nixon as I can see why she would be attracted to him. Must admit, I liked Chase! I was really rooting for him. The additions of Nixon’s friends make for well-rounded cast of characters. I hope that future books will feature more of them.

With all this being said, I will still pick up the next book because I want to see how things play out as I think the story has a lot of potential.  The book reminds me of a daytime soap that sucks you in and you have to keep watching because you need to know what’ happens.

I do feel that if this book interests you, you should read it. As you might have a totally different opinion then I do. And I would love to hear about it!

All Out of Love (A Cupid Texas Novel) by Lori Wilde

Pierce Hollister quarterback and cowboy…what more should I say! Well there is a whole lot…so keep reading.

With All Out of Love, Lori brings us back to Cupid Texas for her second book in the series. Cupid Texas is famous for people leaving Dear Cupid love letters in a special box at the town’s Botanical Gardens. The letters are usually answered by a group of volunteers, with the answers published in the weekly circular. Each letter is supposed to be anonymous.

For Lace Bettingfield, her letter to Cupid became talk of the town when she was fourteen. A letter she never intended for anyone to see became front page news of her high school paper! Her crush on the school’s Quarterback, Pierce Hollister was now wildly known and she was ridiculed by everyone.

Twelve years later Lace Bettingfield is the Director of the Botanical Gardens.  A lover of plants and insects all her life it was a natural choice for her to move home after graduating from Texas A & M. Lace also assists with the Cupid Letter Writing Committee that answers the Dear Cupid letters (I thought this was interesting, considering what happened to her).

Pierce Hollister couldn’t wait to leave high school and the small town of Cupid Texas. He played football in college and went onto become a successful NFL Quarterback with the Dallas Cowboys. An injury in one of his games forces him to return to Cupid. Pierce comes face to face with Lace and can’t believe the changes in her. He is instantly attracted to her and begins a slow and steady pursuit of her.

I fell in love with Lacey as soon as I read her letter to Cupid when she was fourteen! All Out of Love is a delightful story about finding true love when you least expect it (and with the person you never thought it would be)! Lace is a great example of an intelligent and confident woman.  And she doesn’t have to be a size four (she is a 14, which rocks!) to be found beautiful by a sexy man. She is a great example of a real woman!!!

Pierce definitely has a little bit of an ego, he doesn’t seem to believe that Lace isn’t into him, (who isn’t right?! he’s the QB for the Dallas Cowboys!).  Pierce is hot and charming and a total ladies’ man. He has been identified for so long as a football player, he is now struggling with who he is off the field. Can he be someone other than a football star, a cowboy perhaps?

As the story progresses, Pierce falls for Lace pretty quickly and tries to get her to have a relationship. Lace loves Pierce though she denies it and hides behind witty sarcasm throughout the story.  I think the reason for this is that she is also afraid to take a change on him because she fears that he will leave Cupid again and her as well. If I was Lace I would petrified and excited at the same time! The scene with them in her greenhouse is just Hot, Hot, Hot!!! I was cheering for Lace throughout the whole story.

Lori writes stories with such great humor to them. Foreplay in plant and football terms…so funny!   I couldn’t help but smile as I read this.  In addition to Pierce and Lace, there are a whole cast of characters that make this a wonderful story.  I have a list of people that I hope get their own stories (Malcolm to name one!).

My favorite quote from the story…

“Ah, my Lace,” he whispered. “My beautiful, beautiful, Lace.”

All Out of Love is another great addition to the Cupid Texas series; I can’t wait to read more from Lori!
