Thunderstruck by Kendall Grace

Thunderstruck by Kendall Grace

Hawk (Silent) Stephens is a horse trainer in GA. For Hawk growing up in rural Georgia as part Apache wasn’t easy. He was always treated differently. Things changed for him when he became famous for taming a very unruly horse. Thunder brings him money and fame; now everyone in his small town (women) wants a piece of him.  He is at a point in his life where he wants more than the easy women that are interested in his money.

Josephine Daniels moves to Georgia to a house she purchased sight unseen; to make a change in her life. Jo comes from Arizona and a very politically connected family. She has finally started to live life for herself, making choices that she wants rather than what her family wants.  When her neighbor Hawk stops by to introduce himself, Jo is immediately attracted to him. While Hawk is ready to move things along between them, Jo is still somewhat shy about dating again. Hawk sees in Jo his other half and realizes that he has to reel her in the way he does his horses, slow and steady.

I enjoyed Thunderstruck. This was my first book by the author and I felt it was a great story. I found the characters refreshing.  Hawk and Jo actually talked with each other; their relationship was slow to build but it developed into something sweet. Jo needed to trust herself and Hawk. Hawk is quite the man; I was interested in him right away. Between Hawk and Jo they knew how to heat up the sheets!  I liked Jo she came across a little shy in the beginning but as the story moved on she grew into a strong women. She had to make some hard choices in the book and I don’t know if I would have done the same. But regardless of what Jo’s choices were, she did them for love. There are definitely some surprises in the book that I wasn’t expecting but they worked out really well. Thunderstruck is a really sweet romance with two great characters.

Before Jamaica Lane Cover from Samantha Young!

I am a huge fan of Samantha Young! Fell in love with her when I read On Dublin Street.

The next book in the series is Before Jamaica Lane!! Next year is sooooo far away! I can’t wait to read it.

Here is the cover for it! Pretty Right!

Ivan by Roxie Rivera

IVAN by Roxie Rivera

I was intrigued by the cover for Ivan. I can’t resist a guy with tattoos, so I picked the cover because it looked really hot!  I am so glad I did because I adored Ivan and Erin’s story.

Erin Hanson needs help and the only person she believes she can get it from is Ivan. Against her friends advice Erin walks into Ivan’s gym, which is one of the country’s premier Mixed Martial Arts gym, to ask for his help in finding her sister. When Ivan sees Erin in his gym he wants her gone. Erin gets Ivan to listen to her story and she begs for his help. With some reluctance Ivan agrees to help Erin.

Erin is supposed to let Ivan locate her sister but when Erin gets a call she rushes to get her sister. This sets off a series of events that have Ivan and Erin journey through Huston’s seedy side. As the search for Erin’s sister continues, Ivan and Erin soon come to realize that they are attracted to each other. They have to juggle not only their budding relationship but the bad guys as well.

I loved Ivan! He is a big, brooding Russian. The combination of the Mixed Martial Arts and tattoos is so sexy. What I find really great is that under the hard exterior Ivan projects, he is really sweet! Ivan comes from a very dark background and in Erin he sees all the things he wants in his future but never thought he could attain. Erin is a good balance for Ivan. Erin is a strong woman who is not afraid to ask for help. Together Ivan and Erin are really hot. They make a great couple.

Ivan was a great story though I wished it was a little longer. I also would have liked to have had more of Ivan’s background. While a little information is shared about his time before coming to Huston, it doesn’t feel like it’s enough.

I think Ivan is a great start to a new series and I am looking forward to the next book.

Book Expo America recap

Book Expo Logo

This was my first time attending Book Expo America. I found out from a friend that I could attend as a Power Reader on Saturday. The ticket was $49. I arrived at the Javits Center really early…like 6:30 in the morning.  Registration opened at 7am, so I wanted to be early thinking that the line would be really long. I was actually surprised at how few people were there that early. I walked right in and had my registration badge within a few minutes.

I walked around snapping some pics and then found my way to the line to get into the exhibit floor at 9am.

Once 9am it was a mad dash to the exhibit floor. I made sure that I mapped my way around before I went in. I knew where I wanted to go before the doors opened.

The first place I went to was to see Sabrina Jeffries. She was there signing copies of her newest book What the Duke Desires!  Sabrina Jeffries was super nice. She signed her new book and took a picture with me.

Jamie McGuire was there signing copies of Walking Disaster. There were 300 tickets available and I snagged one! I was super excited to get a signed copy of Walking Disaster.

Next came the large signing of Harlequin authors. There were numerous authors that I wanted to meet and I was really looking forward to it. Signing started at 10:30 and when I got in line around 10:45 ish I was told that there might not be enough books for everyone. Which in some ways was disappointing but I was really excited to meet the authors present.  I was able to meet Susan Mallory, Linda Lael Miller, Julie Kagawa, M.L. Kelly and Michele Willingham.

By the time the Harlequin signing was done I grabbed a ticket to see Sylvia Day at the Harlequin Booth. I was the first in line out of 150 people. Pretty excited about that! She was signing a novella called Spellbound for a new series for Harlequin.

In addition to a signed copy of her novella  I also received a great bag and a Lauren Dane ARC of CAKE! I was so excited!!!! I am a huge Lauren Dane fan and couldn’t believe how lucky I was.

Emma Chase was also at BEA! She was in the signing area with her newest book Tangled!

Next came a stop at the Ellora’s Cave booth. It was fun to see some of the cover models and dancers. I was also able to meet the lovely Desire Holt.

The final author that I met was Tara Sue Me who was signing copies of her new book The Submissive.

At the end of the day I was completely exhausted! I spent many hours walking the floor of the Javits Center! Even though my feet hurt it was totally worth it! I can’t wait until next year!

Entwined With You

Entwined With You

So I was lucky enough to get an early copy of Entwined with You because I attend Book Expo America on June 1, 2013. Sylvia Day was there signing copies to a long line of excited readers and I was lucky enough to be one of them!!!!
I started reading the book on Sunday evening and couldn’t put it down. I took it work on Monday; read it on the train, during lunch and all my breaks, then stayed up all Monday night finishing the book. I am sooo exhausted but…it was totally worth it. I think this is the best book of the series.
Eva and Gideon and their emotional roller-coaster that is their relationship continue in Entwined With You. I just truly love Eva and Gideon together. I truly feel their relationship as a couple evolves during this book. Eva and Gideon talk to each, share stories and secrets (and surprises, OMG the surprises). I feel they start to develop a stronger foundation for their relationship.
There are still outside factors conspiring against them and they continue to work their way through their relationship. But as a couple I think they are stronger then they have ever been. The book has all the hot steamy scenes that I have come to really enjoy about them. Gideon is his domineering self and I just so love that in him. He really cares for Eva and wants to take care of her.
Entwined with you is the perfect title for the book as it in my opinion represents their relationship. Eva and Gideon’s lives are so entwined with each other that it’s hard to find where one ends and the others stars. But as crazy and extreme as their relationship has been, it works for them. They fit…their entwined.
There is no release date for book 4 in the series, but any date is still not soon enough. Sylvia Day has delivered another fabulous book in the Crossfire series.
